Soccer Tournament
Good luck to Ethyn, Ally, Adam, Nico, Josie, Dante and Vera who are competing in the Valley Demons soccer team at the year 5 & 6 South Otago Soccer Tournament on Wednesday in Balclutha.
Wheels Week
A reminder it is Wheels Week this week. Everyone is invited to bring their wheels along and leave them at school until Thursday. Please ensure safety gear is brought along e.g. helmets, knee pads. ALL wheels must be collected before the end of the term.

Congratulations to our award winners from assembly last week. Over the last two weeks the focus in classes has been on managing self and how important this key competency is.

GRANDPARENT’S DAY
We are holding a Grandparents Day next Tuesday 15 April to end our unit, “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.” We are asking students to come dressed in clothes that students may have worn in the past. Please don’t go to a lot of trouble!!
Everyone is welcome to take part in all or some of the events planned for the day.
We will begin the day at 10.30 a.m by singing the National Anthem before we have a parade. There will be prizes for the best dressed.
Invitations have been distributed to grandparents (or adopted grandparents!) in our community and wider community inviting them along to school to share their memories or artifacts from the past. If you are interested in coming along or know of someone who we could approach please contact the school. A sharing time will occur at 11.00 a.m.
We will be establishing a museum of artifacts for the day. If you have anything which you think may be of interest please let us know. These could be something from the past or present, which could be interesting for the children. These can start coming to school at anytime. We will make sure we take care of these items.
Everyone is invited to bring along an old fashioned picnic and join us for lunch from 12.00 p.m – 1.00 p.m. We will also be looking for the most authentic school lunch from the past.
In the afternoon we will be having a variety of activities related to the past such as a quiz and indoor and outdoor games.

10.30 a.m: National Anthem and Parade, followed by Grandparents sharing. Judging of the best dressed
12.00 p.m-1.00 p.m: LUNCH - Old fashioned picnic
1.00 p.m – 3.00 p.m: Rotations - activities with teachers eg - indoor games, outdoor games, quiz.

The BOT at the last meeting approved the continuation of the Bible in Schools programme for 2014. If you do not wish your child to be part of the programme please send written notice of this to school.
MUFTI DAY FUNDRAISER FOR YEAR 7 AND 8 CAMP TO QUEENSTOWN
Thank you very much to all those who supported our mufti day camp fundraiser today. We raised $111.60 to go towards our camp. This is very much appreciated.
SAVELOYS
Thank you to everyone who has been supporting our saveloy fundraiser this
term. Today was the last day of saveloys for term one. We will resume selling them again in week one of term two. They seem to be quite a popular lunch on Fridays which is great!
